Obama vs McCain on community building web 2.0

June 27, 2008

A recent blog quoted McCain’s Mark Soohoo as saying “it’s no big deal that McCain doesn’t use the net”. Does one really need to use it to understand it? Obama seems at home on the net. With Obama’s background as a community organizer creating an on-line community is just a natural progression. This on-line community seems to have taken a life of it’s own. It is now producing user content in YouTube and other venues. It has become a major fund raising venue. The community is now working to unify the party around Obama. When it comes time to get out the vote it is likely the on-line community will be a major factor with important voter groups. Understanding community building made all this is possible.
